En accord avec son patient, le médecin évalue la nécessité d’un traitement de physiothérapie et rédige une prescription à l’intention du physiothérapeute.

En fonction de cette prescription et de son bilan ainsi que de l’attente du patient, le physiothérapeute adapte les techniques et méthodes à l’affection et à son évolution.

La physiothérapie pratiquée par un professionnel reconnu, sur la base d’une prescription médicale, est remboursé par l’assurance maladie de base et par les assureurs accidents, par l’AI et l’assurance militaire.

**Le patient a toute liberté de choisir son physiothérapeute.**

Selon une ordonnance de l’OFAS, 3 séries de 9 séances peuvent être prescrites pour un même problème. Au-delà de ces 27 séances, si le traitement doit être poursuivi, une justification peut être demandée au médecin prescripteur.

Le traitement doit débuter dans les cinq semaines qui suivent la date de la prescription. Il doit être réalisé dans un délai de 3 mois.
